The story of the Domaine du Coutancie is more than a family history,

it is the story of a passion .

It all bagan in 1836 when great grand father was an agricultural labourer wanting his own piece of land. He bought a tiny vinyard to produce his  Bergerac wine  and each Sunday, his kit-bag on his back, he made the 15 kms journey on foot to work his land.

It is the passion of ownership.

The following generations each brought their own continuity and innovation. The Domaine grew until the death of Jules "without whom nothing would have been".

Jules' only daughter, Nicole, took over the venture and added the "woman's touch".  She rediscovered, developed and became the first to commercially produce 'Rosette' wine - a fine wine, well-rounded and very feminine.

It is the passion to pass it on.

She opened up the Domaine and instigated a gite . So began many happy meetings and friendships wich continue summer after summer, and with it the possibility of sharing knowledge and understanding of tasting wine and food.

So, in partnership with Hervé, her husband and their children, she started brunches, tea-time fruit treats and groups for wine tastings.

Hervé, the herdsman, overseas the whole meat-producing process from pasture to oven-ready product, and all within a radius of 3 kms, which means quality meat, fresh and sustainably produced available from the butchery.
